Please refer to your policy wording for more information.

Not all windscreens require replacement. Many chips are repairable, which can save time, avoid the need to pay an excess and reduce the impact on the environment.
Sometimes replacing the windscreen is unavoidable. For example, if the damage is within the direct vision of the driver’s side, if the crack spreads extensively or it’s affecting drive assist functionality.
The degree of damage is not always evident to the untrained eye, so it’s always best to get the help of someone in-the-know, who’ll be able to advise you if it can be repaired or replaced. Your windscreen is an important safety feature of your car and is also checked as part of your Warrant of Fitness, so don’t delay getting it fixed!
