If your business is on the road, you’ll need insurance that goes the extra distance.
With our Commercial Motor insurance you get more than just great cover. You’ll also enjoy a range of benefits to help keep your employees safe and your vehicles on the road.
Our Commercial Motor insurance can be tailored to insure each of your business vehicles individually. For larger fleets of 15 or more vehicles we offer a Commercial motor fleet option.
Cover for individual business vehicles
Our Commercial Motor insurance is one of several cover types you can choose from in our business suite. Your policy can be tailored to insure each of your business vehicles individually with a combination of cover types and excess structures. You can choose from three levels of cover for each of your vehicles: comprehensive, third party, or third party fire and theft.
To get the level of cover that’s right for your business, talk to your broker or adviser.
Comprehensive cover:
- Our most popular level of commercial motor insurance cover.
- If your business vehicles are stolen or damaged, we’ll cover them for their market value, up to a Sum Insured that you set.
- If your vehicle is no longer roadworthy after an accident, we’ll cover emergency accommodation and travel.
- We’ll provide cover for load recovery, salvage costs, trailers and tarpaulins, hoists and road clearing, and we can also cover your employee’s vehicles while they’re being used for your business.
- If you’re in an accident caused by an identified third party, you can make a claim and still keep your no claim bonus – we’ll even waive the excess.
Commercial vehicle liability cover:
- We’ll protect you for your legal liability to third parties for all three levels of our cover.
- Includes cover for your legal liability to pay defence costs and damages if you accidentally damage someone else’s property.
- We also offer cover for your liability under the Sentencing Amendment Act 2014. If you accidentally injure someone and are ordered by the Court to pay reparation for their lost income or medical costs, you may be able to claim for some or all of the cost.

Frequently asked questions
When do I need a Commercial Motor insurance policy?
If your vehicle is being used for work or commercial purposes, you’ll need to have it insured separately to your private motor vehicle. With our Commercial Motor policy, you can also access a number of benefits such as loss of use, and rental vehicle extensions that are not available under some Private Motor policies.
Can I tailor my Commercial Motor policy?
We understand that your business is unique so your insurance should be too. Our Vero Commercial Motor policy can be tailored to suit your fleet and business requirements.
What’s the difference between a Commercial Motor vehicle policy and a Commercial Motor fleet policy?
For organisations with a large fleet of approximately 15 or more vehicles, we offer our Commercial Motor fleet policy.
Are there ways to reduce my premiums?
There are a number of ways you can reduce your premium including your excess amount and burning cost. Your broker or adviser will be able to help you with this.
How is my premium calculated?
Premiums are based on a number of factors such as what the vehicle is, where it is located, what it is used for and previous claim experience. These factors may also affect any additional terms or scope of cover.
Do vehicle modifications affect my Commercial Motor insurance?
Yes they can. That’s why it’s important to always let us know any modifications, accessories or signwriting on your vehicle to ensure your policy can include these – otherwise your vehicle may not be covered if you need to make a claim.
Excesses, terms, conditions, limits and exclusions apply to these policies. Please check the policy wording for details of cover. The provision of cover is subject to the underwriting criteria that apply at the time.
